How long have you been doing what you do?
I started working in advocacy with Domestic Violence Awareness in 2016. I’ve been a teen mentor since 2019.
What types of services does your organization/agency/business provide?
My business provides Life Coaching, Relationship/Marriage Coaching, Empowerment Self Defense Coaching, Mentoring and Abuse Support Services.
What made you decide to do what you do/choose your field?
I had some life-changing events happen when I was a child. I experienced my first domestic violence abuse situation at the age of 18, then again at ages 21-24. I had to stop the repeated cycle. I wanted to make a difference after everything I’ve been through.
What are some of the most gratifying parts of what you do?
The most gratifying part of what I do is knowing that I am able to inspire people to no longer be silent and be able to speak up and know that they are not alone. I want them to know that love does not have to hurt and that there are other survivors out there just like them.
What are some of the most disheartening things about what you do?
Some of the most disheartening things about what I do is when I set up monthly support group sessions for women to come and share stories with each other maybe only a few people will show. It makes the ones that come seem to lose determination.
Do you have any events coming up?
I do not have any events coming up.
Do you have any needs that would help you better do what you do?
I would say the more resources the better!
What main point(s) do you want the readers to take away from this article?
The main point I would want readers to take away from this article is to know that abuse has no age limit, gender, or race. Abuse can happen to anyone at any time without notice.
