One of the things that I’m proudest of is the decision to start my own business and domestic violence advocacy. They have given me a voice that I don’t think I would have realized that I had or possibly would have never used had I not started them. There’s a lot of work that goes into each. Some days are better than others. Some decisions about what to do and what direction to go in have been great, while others…not so much. But, there’s a special feeling in knowing that the choices are being made by the right person-me! I’m exercising my right and freedom to do the things that I enjoy. They give me purpose, and I have the ability to share that purpose with others.
I recently shared that one of the most important things in what I do is that it allows an outlet for me to have fun, be creative and share information that I feel will be helpful to someone else. But, equally as important, it allows me to assist others with sharing their voice and vision. It’s a beautiful thing to take someone’s ideas and objectives and turn them into a website, a newsletter, a social media page or a blog. In advocacy, some people want their voices heard without actually being the one out front doing the speaking. Or, they would like to be able to share their thoughts, but have not been given the opportunity to do so. I give people the opportunity to do that. I create the stage, allowing them to opportunity to be out front or speak on their behalf, vocally or in print. It is a blessing. I don’t take it for granted. I see it as an opportunity to help others while helping myself. I’m truly loving what I do and doing what I love.
