Rubbie King, an exceptional executive legal professional, has the education, passion and perseverance needed to meet the challenges regarding domestic violence. A Memphis native, Rubbie is the proud mother of a son and daughter. She is the Program Operations Director for the Family Safety Center. In this position, she has partnered and consulted with numerous organizations locally and nationally to bring innovative ideas and solutions to the center. The Family Safety Center, set to open mid Spring, 2011, plans to provide one location that will effectively combine civil, criminal, health and social services to families who are victims of domestic violence. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Paralegal Studies at ITT Technical Institute.
Rubbie’s impressive background includes her work in General Sessions Criminal Court, Memphis City Schools, The Department of Children’s Services and an honorably discharged U.S. Air Force Veteran. Since 2004, Rubbie has used her education and skills to develop outreach programs, schedule safety trainings, analyze court and statistical data to assist setting benchmarks and achieving desired outcomes to reduce domestic violence within the community. She actively serves in the community as facilitator, keynote speaker, panelist and mentor to both adults and teens in all walks of life.
As Rubbie states, “We have a social responsibility in the fight to eradicate domestic violence in this community. There is a public outcry for education and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence. Why don’t we ask, ‘why does he abuse’?” You can be certain that Rubbie will be working from her office, as well as in the field, pursuing tangible resources and using her voice as a champion for change.
